Event Hub - Dedicated vs. Oracle Managed
Oracle provides two Kafka offerings - “Oracle Event Hub Cloud Service - Dedicated" and “Oracle Event Hub Cloud Service" abbreviated EHCS and EHCS respectively (confusing, right?)
The “Dedicated" version of the service provides Kafka node(s) with the option of dedicated zookeeper, rest, and/or confluent-connect nodes. The other version of the service is Oracle-managed. It takes up 0 OCPU and little to no block storage, but there is a catch - you can only connect to it through the REST proxy.
Oracle Event Hub - Dedicated
Using the dedicated version gives you full control over your kafka instance, including SSH access to the nodes.
Oracle Event Hub - Oracle Managed
See confluent’s documentation for more information on how to connect at https://docs.confluent.io/current/kafka-rest/docs/index.html
This unfortunately will only do for a limited number of use-cases.
